| Posted 2008-05-12 08:50 PM CST by Matt Soukup matt [at] welkup [dot] com |
If you haven't already noticed, the site is currently going under some maintenance. We will attempt to leave everything functioning as normal. Look forward to these additions:
- Searchable blog archive with interactive user interface.
- Downloads page makeover. No longer a series of blog posts.
- How to Play page makeover. No longer a series of blog posts.
- Screenshots page makeover. No longer a series of blog posts. AJAX-esque display.
- Various architectural improvements using databases, php, and javascript.
That's all for now. Stay tuned for more classic smashing action!

2008-04-12: Pit

Pit's profile has been added to the characters page! Wait.. he isn't on the loading screen! Huh? Why did we post him? You will see soon.
Pit comes from a wonderful gem of an NES game called 'Kid Icarus'. It's a unique game that blends the platformer and shooter genres. It's also challenging, which greatly adds to its appeal. Fans have been clamoring for his return for quite some time now. He made a cameo in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a trophy, which crushed the hopes of eager fans wanting him playable. Fast forward to E3 2006. The first trailer of Super Smash Bros. Brawl made it's public debut. Pit was featured as one of the newcoming fighters. His popularity has heightened to a peak it's never been before. Now we just need a new Kid Icarus title.
Consistent updates will resume soon.
2007-11-02: Designing Super Smash Bros Classic (v3.0): Style in Game Maker
| Posted 2007-11-02 05:00 PM CST by Matt Soukup matt [at] welkup [dot] com |
Here is my little document on design criteria within Game Maker. Not much has been said about style using Game Maker. With the major reworkings that Classic will be undergoing throughout the year, I felt I needed to solidify some of these ideas before I got to work. What better way to do that than writing down my ideas!? It serves as a bonus to all of our readers! (Hopefully, I will be able to teach you something with this!)
Welkup is all about educating others. I'll take this time to announce the upcoming release of welkup.com, which will assist us in this pedagogical mission: To educate through the art of computing!
Download the design document here. Thanks for reading, and be sure to leave feedback in the forums! Thanks!
Talk Soon,
Matt Soukup
